HPMC YB400

HPMC YB400, an industrial grade hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose used as an additive in self-leveling mortar. Among cellulose ethers, EipponCell hydroxypropyl methylcellulose HPMC YB400 is a primary additive in self-leveling floor material. Self-leveling mortar utilizes its own weight to form a flat, smooth, and strong foundation on the substrate, allowing for the laying or bonding of other materials while facilitating large-area and high-efficiency construction.
One of the key features of self-leveling mortar is its high fluidity. HPMC YB400 adds to this quality with its ability to retain water and provide bonding strength without water segregation. Additionally, HPMC YB400 offers insulation and low temperature rise, making it an excellent choice for various construction applications, particularly in ground decoration and repair projects.

Application of HPMC YB400

The application of EipponCell HPMC YB400 have the following properties on self-leveling floor materials :

1.Water retention
The water retention of freshly mixed cement mortar is a crucial factor that affects the stability of its internal components. HPMC YB400 is an effective additive used to maintain moisture in the mortar for a prolonged duration, which enables the gel material to undergo complete hydration reaction. HPMC YB400 products with a viscosity of around 400mpa. s are commonly employed in self-leveling mortar applications. This addition enhances the leveling performance of the mortar and increases its overall compactness. By improving the water retention capacity of self-leveling mortar, HPMC YB400 ensures that the mortar maintains its desirable consistency, making it easier to apply and leading to better results in construction projects.

2. Fluidity
Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) YB400 is a crucial factor in determining the water retention, consistency, and construction performance of self-leveling mortar. For self-leveling mortar applications, fluidity is a key indicator that determines the quality of self-leveling performance. By adjusting the amount of HPMC YB400 added, the fluidity of the mortar can be controlled without impacting its normal composition. However, it is crucial to ensure that the dosage of HPMC is within a reasonable range to avoid adverse effects on the performance of the mortar. Properly controlling the amount of HPMC YB400 added can help ensure the desired consistency and fluidity of the self-leveling mortar, leading to better results in construction projects.

3.Clotting time
The addition of EipponCell HPMC YB400 to mortar can cause a delay in the setting time of the mixture. As the amount of HPMC YB400 increases, this effect becomes more pronounced. This is due to the formation of a complex film layer, which can have a significant impact on the early hydration of cement and lead to greater retardation of the setting time. HPMC YB400 can cause retarding influence on mortar, and the degree of effect is closely related to its dosage.

4.Flexural strength and compressive strength
The addition of HPMC YB400 to cement-based materials can result in a decrease in compressive and flexural strength of the mortar as the dosage increases. Strength is a crucial evaluation index for the curing effect of such materials.

5.Bond strength
The bonding performance of mortar is greatly affected by the addition of HPMC YB400. HPMC forms a polymer film that acts as a seal between the liquid phase system and the cement hydration particles, improving the water retention and workability of the mortar. When an appropriate amount of HPMC YB400 is added, the plasticity and flexibility of the mortar are enhanced, which reduces the rigidity of the transition zone between the mortar and substrate interface. This, in turn, reduces the sliding ability between the interfaces and leads to strong bonding strength. The sealing effect of HPMC YB400 also helps to reduce water loss and improve hydration efficiency during the setting and curing process, resulting in a denser and more durable cementitious material. The addition of HPMC YB400 not only enhances the bonding performance of the mortar but also improves its workability and durability.
